Sometimes you hire a person having a feeling that they are perfect for a particular position. But then, after several months, it turns out that you were wrong.

Partly it’s because people can mind their P’s and Q’s for the first 30-90 days, maybe even the first six months. But after that, they get comfortable and start showing some true colors.

However, it’s also because when hiring someone you envision what they could be developed into – and that’s where you can make huge mistakes.

That’s exactly what I’m discussing with this week’s Coaching Uncut client.

Tune in for this episode and find out what things you can overlook when hiring new people to your team and how to recognize if someone is a good fit for a specific position.

In our Coaching Uncut Series, we take you behind the scenes and show you the coaching I do with my clients so you can learn right along with them! All of these coaching calls have been recorded with permission, and the sound quality may vary.

Key Takeaways:

Introduction (00:00)

When employees start showing their true colors (00:50)

Looking back from this position – key things you overlooked during the hiring practice (03:00)

What specific things did you pick up on in both the team and the leader? (05:44)

Korean language issue and ignoring 95% clientele (07:28)

Sometimes, it’s hard for men to take direction from women (11:16)

Hiring for vision, not for the position (12:14)

Hiring the right person for the right role (13:59)

In today’s episode of The Unstoppable Woman, I interview a colleague of mine and an unstoppable man, Chris Dufey.

I know, I know, you’re probably wondering why I’m interviewing a man on the podcast.

It’s not something we usually do (although Chris is not the first man on the podcast), but, if you know me, then you know I always have a reason for what I do.

And my reason for this interview is simple: Not only is Chris an amazing person, but he is also the father of not one, not two, not three, but four daughters.

Yes, Chris has been busy.

And we’re making him even busier today by having him over on The Unstoppable Woman to talk about how he raised four strong girls while also running a multi-million dollar business.

Pretty exciting stuff, am I right?

Listen in as Chris and I talk about how he started his fitness business, the importance of self-discipline, what burnout means to him, what it’s like to raise four girls, and more.

Tune in now.

Key Takeaways:

Introduction (00:00)

Meet Chris (00:46)

Let’s talk burnout (04:53)

In this week’s episode of The Unstoppable Woman, I interview the amazing Erica Mills Barnhart.

Erica is an amazing human, a faaaabulous businesswoman, an associate teaching professor at UW’s Evans School of Public Policy and Governance, and a client of mine!

As you can see, Erica wears many hats.

But wait, I’m not done yet!

Erica is also the founder and CEO of Claxon Communication, a company whose sole goal is to help clients communicate with clarity and confidence.

In this episode, Erica says that the seed of this business was planted when she was just eight years old and had moved from Vancouver to her new home in the US.

Because Erica had studied in a French school, she could only read and write French, and that made it difficult for her to communicate with her peers in the US.

However, those days are gone.

Today, Erica is an expert communicator (and a brilliant Unstoppable Woman, let’s not forget), an amazing teacher, and a great CEO.

Listen in as she and I discuss how she juggles all aspects of herself, what leadership is to her, how she started her business, and more.

Want to learn more?

Tune in now.

Key Takeaways:

Introduction (00:00)

Meet Erica (00:48)

Integrating two aspects of yourself (03:03)

Closing the gap (15:01)

We’re all here for growth (19:45)

Quick story time (26:20)

What are your values? (33:32)

Etymology and communication (38:04)

Last questions (44:30)
