This Is The Secret To My Success

Sometimes I’m not a quick learner.

I’m not talking left brain stuff—THAT, I’ll say I do fairly easily. It was how I was raised to excel. I’m programmed to think that way, for which I’m incredibly grateful.

I’m talking about life lessons.

The stuff that actually takes you to the next level in your life.

Sometimes I need to get bopped on the head to be woken up (don’t we all!!) ;-)

When I’m in it, I’m not crazy about the process, but it works.

It gets my attention. I wake up.

I’m grateful for that too. #GratitudeForAllThings

I can say I’m not crazy about the process, but that’s old programming… to be resistant to what doesn’t feel good. That, however, I’ve learned over and over again, just makes it last longer.

Interesting, eh?

I can say I’m not crazy about the process, but it IS the process. It’s the way it works. Always. Zero exception. Again, no need to fight it. Embrace it as quickly as you recognize it.

That’s the secret.

  • How quickly can you do that?
  • How quickly can you recognize that you’ve been thrown out of heaven and instead of resisting the lesson that’s right in front of you, small or large, can you see the truth of it and embrace it?

This is how you quickly return to living that most delightful, “pinch me” life.

This is how you quickly return to moving the needle in your business.

This is how you keep growing, leveling up, and raising your vibration, no matter what.

This is my practice. Daily.

Walking the talk every day.

It is the secret to my success.

There. I just told you. Run with this. Please. :-)

Exposing Exhaustion – Part One

I got a brainstorm the other morning, straight from Spirit, Source, the Universe saying, “there’s exhaustion for women in business and it’s a big effing deal.”

I want to pull back the curtain on this because I hear about it from my clients all the time. It’s something I help them work through to become truly unstoppable while also staying aligned with their personal needs. Walking that line between pushing too hard and staying committed.

The big download was to talk to you about my own personal experience with exhaustion that’s happening right now. In fact, it’s been happening for the last six months.

And let me tell you, it hasn’t always been pretty.

There’s been some serious WTF moments.

Yet I’ve continued to show up for my clients and I’ve continued to do my work in the world. I think it’s important to talk about how this all works, and that’s what this Exposing Exhaustion series is all about.

First, I want to frame a little bit around what’s been happening for me and why I decided to share it.

If you’ve been following me, you know that I moved to Denver in the middle of last year and I loved it! It was amazing for me. It was such a beautiful place, I had a beautiful apartment where I could walk to everything, and I was so excited to be there.

Then I started getting exhausted.

Experiencing both physical exhaustion and brain fog (coming and going, not constant). I went to a functional medicine doctor and tried different supplements, taking a ton of tests. Then I thought it might be the altitude, so I moved myself across the country to lower altitude!! Doing EVERYTHING I could to explore and remedy what was causing this exhaustion (I continue to do this).

I’ll tell you… it’s become quite a thing in my life! A thing that my mind obsesses about, and I’m not pleased about that. I’d love to be able to set that down and just be content and at ease with whatever energy I have, but I have to admit… I’m quite attached to having high energy in my life! Having the energy to do whatever I want, whenever I want.

And why wouldn’t I? That, to me, is freedom. Just like financial freedom, energetic freedom is huge.

Part of why I’m sharing this is that I don’t want this dichotomy between showing up in the world one way while something else is happening behind the scenes. Truth be told, that’s okay. As business owners, we don’t have to communicate everything about our life to everyone all the time. But when it starts to feel like you’re hiding something or you’re not fully expressed, that’s not okay for me.

That’s the start… I’ll be sharing more soon, so stay tuned. :)

Why I Don’t Tolerate Overwhelm

Do you want to be superwoman?

Are you trying to do it all?

Perhaps you’re a mom, a wife, a good friend, a businesswoman, and a volunteer. You’ve been working hard to grow your business because you know you have something valuable to offer.

You know one thing for sure…

You can’t find time to do it all and you’re reaching your tipping point.

Does this sound like you?

I’m often asked, “What do you do when you’re overwhelmed?”

The short: don’t tolerate the overwhelm.

Seriously, hear me out.

When it comes to the many, many things you have to do in this life and within your business that are adding to your overwhelm… you have two choices:

1) Don’t do them. (This includes delegation.)

2) Do them, but use it as an opportunity to practice managing your mindset. Feel grateful for the experience and make a conscious effort to ENJOY IT.

Regardless of what you choose, staying in the frustration and tolerating the overwhelm? Those are real money flow killers!!

You’re thinking you can’t do it. You’re thinking it’s a struggle. You think you don’t have time.

Stop that. Those thoughts are only making it worse.

(I say that knowing it’s a challenge AND knowing you can do it.)

Focus on what’s in front of you. Focus on what you want.

Don’t tolerate the overwhelm.

Decide to engage with it in a different way… which could mean just hitting the pause button for a while.

You always have choice.

Untrapping Yourself From Burnout

One reason so many women business owners feel like they have no time is because they keep working until the very last moment before they have something scheduled for themselves saying, “I can get one more thing done if I just power through!”

Have you been there?

I know I have in the past!!

  • Squeezing in that one last email.
  • Checking off at least a couple more to-dos.
  • Wrapping up another quick project.

I get that you’re driven and committed (so am I), but I want you to get honest and ask yourself…

Where does this come from? On the subconscious plane, what do you unconsciously think that you’ll lose if you give yourself a little more time? For your family? For life?

You won’t choose ease until it’s less painful than the alternative.

Dig in and see what’s beneath the drive to keep doing, doing, doing all the time.

The truth is you don’t need to hustle every single minute. Yes, there’s action to take, however, it’s a CHOICE to drive yourself to burnout.

It’s an unconscious one most of the time, but you do get to choose. It’s 100% up to you.

To change this, you have to make it a conscious decision… you notice that you’re cramming work into every open moment of the day and consciously decide on a different way of being that allows yourself MORE time and space. More ease.

Yet, that decision can’t just be, “I don’t want this anymore.”

It needs to be a conscious choice for something else.

What are you going to choose instead?

Make a conscious choice to start showing up differently today.

I See Too Many Women Making This Mistake

When talking to brilliant business owners like yourself, I hear a lot of talk about being socially responsible. Meaning… wanting to be of service, make a difference, and have an impact. (So important!)

Having a positive social impact is imperative and is tied directly to our purpose and our ‘More Life Directive’… yet too many women use this as a reason why they can’t charge what they’re worth or why they don’t like engaging in sales.

They just want to make a difference without looking at the business behind making a difference.

Sound familiar?

I get it, 100%.

But let me ask you this… what’s actually more socially responsible? Making a great living while helping the world AND being able to give back… or staying poor and not being able to do your work in this world or give back?

The truth is…

The two are not mutually exclusive, and saying they are is keeping you small. When you play small, you’re not able to have the impact you desire… it just can’t happen!

You can’t change the world if you believe charging what you’re worth or asking people to invest in your product or service is ‘bad’ or ‘wrong’ in one way or another.

This is a double bind and leads to constant self-sabotage.

Instead, I want you to focus on how making a TON of money allows you to better impact the world around what you care about most.

Seriously.

  • What would it allow you to do better?
  • Who would you be able to bring on to support you and others?
  • How would you be able to expand your reach with more ease?
  • Where could you reinvest that money to help more people?

Write your answers down right now.

Then, FOCUS on the actions that will move the needle most in your business (think sales, marketing, and anything that gets you in front of your ideal people).

Get out there and make that impact ALONG WITH the money you’re worth.

You Have To Take This A Step Further Than You Normally Do

What are you focused on right now in your business?

And within that focus, what are you focused on?

Confused? Stay with me. ;-)

Let’s say you’re focused on hiring a new team member. It could be a full-time person for a high-level position, or it could be your first contractor (say, a virtual assistant to help you organize your receipts). It doesn’t matter. You’re focused on hiring this person.

What are you focused on within this focus?

Are you focused on the expense? Where the money is going to come from? Whether s/he is going to meet, exceed, or fall short of your expectations? Whether it’s going to work out?

Or…

Are you focused on how it’s going to free up your time to build and grow your business? How this team member is going to help you make more money in the long run? How you’ve done your due diligence and know that s/he is awesome, talented, capable, and trainable? How it’s the beginning of your next big adventure, and no matter what, it’s going to work out?

You see, our greatest power as humans is our power of CHOICE.

You’ve got the CHOICE of what you think and where you focus.

The choices you make lead you down different paths.

How you look at things inside your business is one of the most important choices you can make.

Let’s make this non-rhetorical…

What are YOU focused on TODAY in YOUR business?

And within that focus, what are you focused on? Where is your attention? What thoughts are you choosing to think?

If you don’t like what you’re focused on, you get to change that.

What will you choose?
