Yep, you read that title right. Whether or not you can create consistent cash flow in your business all comes back to mom and dad.

Hear me out… we’re not blaming your parents!!

Your ability to call in the kind of prospects, opportunities, clients, and income you desire is directly tied to your money story, double binds, loyalty pacts, and beliefs about yourself, others, and the world.

This is your subconscious programming around money. It’s essentially, what you believe to be true about yourself, money, how it moves in the world, and what’s possible for you.

This is ALL learned at a very young age.

You see, our subconscious programming… the “rules” we learn about how to stay safe, loved, and secure… gets locked in pretty tightly when we’re young, before the age of 12 (roughly) which is when we begin to fully develop our conscious mind.

The conscious mind allows us to accept or reject information… but before we have our conscious mind in place, the subconscious is WIDE open.

Which means everything you heard or witnessed around money for those first years of your life in your family, community, culture, and home has shaped your beliefs.

Now, you may have a desire for more $ and you may be busy, seemingly working hard at achieving that goal.

But until you get leverage over your subconscious, you will always find a way to justify not taking the true action that’s required to move the needle. You know what I mean… it’s that task that you’re resisting, putting off, procrastinating doing.

So my tip for today is to move towards the resistance. Do the very thing that you’re putting off.

As I write this, I feel that oh so familiar feeling inside that lets me know that I too have fallen into the “resistance trap”.

Truth! It still happens to me. I know exactly what I’m avoiding doing!!

But the promise I made long ago to myself and which has helped me close the gap on time on achieving my income (and other) goals… is to move toward the resistance… as quickly as I humanly can.

It doesn’t always feel good. Hello, resistance!

But it does get you past the programming that keeps you small.

So if you want your quantum leap, if you want to prove to yourself that you are extraordinary, sometimes you have to do hard things.

So after I finish this, I’m going to stop justifying why all the other things on my list are more important and I’m going to go do that thing I know I’m resisting and get it done!

Here’s to you “walking the talk” as well. ;-)

Let me know that you felt the resistance and moved through it. I promise you… the other side feels amazing!

The link between the chatter in your head and success

By Amira Alvarez Hello Unstoppable Friend,Do you have a constant stream of chatter in your mind that’s reminding you of “all the hard” that you’re facing? That internal dialogue might sound something like…“This is so hard” or “I’m so overwhelmed.”“I don’t want to work more hours.”“I wonder if _____ (insert name of significant other)…

Hello Unstoppable Friend,

Do you have a constant stream of chatter in your mind that’s reminding you of “all the hard” that you’re facing?

That internal dialogue might sound something like…

“This is so hard” or “I’m so overwhelmed.”
“I don’t want to work more hours.”
“I wonder if _____ (insert name of significant other) is going to like me doing this.”
“If I do this are people going to think I’m greedy or just out for the money?”
“What if my business gets so big or I get so busy I can’t take care of my family?”

These examples, and so many others like them, all come directly from our subconscious which long ago got programmed with “rules” to guide how we view and engage with the world.

This programming, or the lens through which you see the world, is going to make the work of growing your business (and your life) either easier or harder… and make success come quickly or with struggle.

It’s going to color every decision you make and experience you have.

It’s going to color how you approach money and time, two resources most people go into scarcity about.

It’s going to color your experience of hiring and managing Team, reaching out and connecting with potential clients, offering your product or service for sale, and approaching the systems and processes required to grow.

If you want to understand whether you’ve been programmed for success or struggle, just become aware of that chatter in your head.

What is it actually saying? Once you identify that, ask yourself what that says about your beliefs about what it takes to succeed?

Do this exercise for a week and you’ll have a really good sense of how you’ve been programmed.

For many, this chatter runs rampant, taking up a huge amount of brain space and energy.

It’s actually controlling you, rather than you directing it.

And it’s causing everything you’re seeking to do in your business so much harder.

Until you identify the programming, you won’t truly understand what blocks you from success and you’ll always wonder why you’re getting in your way.

This has been one of the biggest game changers for me and I hope you actually do the exercise.

Let me know if you do – even a few minutes of awareness can be life (and business) changing.

The truth is most people will read this and skip over the actual doing of the exercise. Kind of like at the end of the chapter in the book when you just keep reading the next chapter instead of actually working the prompts. I’ve been totally guilty of that as well!

But let’s do it differently this time. Take two minutes and do this exercise. Even a few minutes will provide tons of information! If you want to take it further and have a bigger breakthrough, feel free to click the link below to book a call.

What would you like people to know about…

A) You, because you are your brand.

B) Your products or services.

C) The benefits of your product and services.

D) The intangibles – customer service, quality, reputation.

I’m not looking for well-crafted messages.

Don’t get hung up on making it all fit into one freaking sentence with a bow on top.

The one sentence “or die” thing is one of my biggest bugaboos. It hangs people up for hours, even days… sometimes even keeps them from talking about their business at all.

Sure, the process provides clarity. It gets you thinking and really honing in on what you do and the benefits of it. That is good, I’ll give you that.

But really? It’s a rare, rare, rare case when you have to speak or even write like that.

In fact, when I’m at an event and someone parrots off their one line introduction, most of the time it feels so off. (Even if it’s well crafted.)

Want to know why?

Because it’s devoid of life.

It’s not how people talk to each other. It’s not real. There’s no place to land. Even though that’s exactly what the person is trying to do… give us a place to land, to connect to them and their business.

You have to have REAL conversations.

Talk like a person to another person.

Come up with your MESSAGE. (Yes! A thousand times yes!) Which you will say in lots of different ways. Which you will continually breathe life into each time you say it.

Don’t make things hard on yourself. Just say what you really mean.

With that in mind, and without going through a huge polishing process, what do you really want people to know about one or all of the following… just let it rip!

A) You, because you are your brand.

B) Your products or services.

C) The benefits of your product and services.

D) The intangibles – customer service, quality, reputation.

Want some practice sharing what you really mean?

I cannot wait to hear what you say.

If you’re not making the money you want or you’re struggling with cash flow right now, I get it. It can feel hugely hard.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the fact that, right now, you don’t have the money you desire or need.

Bills, financial obligations, kids going to college, what about retirement… all of that… plus, that vacation and that gorgeous pair of shoes that you want. Heck, maybe you just want to get your hair and nails done.

This can be, at times, more than just frustrating. It can be downright debilitating. Panic and fear take over. I understand.

But the truth is the money is here. Right now.

Your circumstances may not show it. You may not see it. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t here.

Expand your field of view… There are plenty of businesses making great money. There are plenty of people making great money. There is plenty of money in circulation.

In fact, there’s more money in circulation now than ever before in history. It just keeps expanding.

If you’re struggling with cash flow right now in your business, it’s not because the money isn’t here. It is. That’s not the issue.

It’s that you’re not doing the right things to bring it to you.

Although there are thousands of different permeations of how to grow your business, there are some basic rules of business that apply to everyone. These rules are not complicated.

One rule is that you have to believe that it’s possible. You have to believe that it’s possible for you to have what you want. (This is true for money and for everything in life.)

You have to believe that even if your current circumstances indicate more financial obligations than income… even if you don’t know “how” it’s going to happen… you have to believe that it is going to happen… now, easily.

You also have to believe in yourself. You have to believe in your capacity, your abilities, and your right to have what you want.

Let’s put this concept into context…

Let’s say you want to purchase something for your life or business… a car, a first class ticket, dinner out, your next hire, new office space, business coaching, apps or software, etc.

It’s something that for you represents a stretch and is a lot of money to you in your current circumstances.

Do you look at your current circumstances and say… “I can’t afford it. This is not prudent. This would be foolish. I need to wait until I have the money.”

This is how most of us were brought up to think… and I have to admit, wrapping my head around what I’m about to tell you was really hard for me at first. And many of you are may get pissed off by it because it flies in the face of your belief structure.

All my training and upbringing lead me to budgets, avoiding large amounts of debt, only spending what I had, etc.

But here’s the thing… as an entrepreneur…

When you choose to think this way, you are choosing NOT to believe in yourself.

When you think this way, what are you actually believing?

You are believing that if you spend the money you have, it will run out.

But moreover, and this is really important…

You are believing that you are not capable of creating that money or more money.

You are believing that you will let yourself down, that you don’t have the commitment or the skills, that this kind of money is not for you but for other people, that you’re not willing to do what it takes, that it will be too overwhelming or hard to earn that kind of money, that it won’t work out… and more.

Because if you believed in yourself and your abilities, you wouldn’t sweat using the money one iota.

If you chose NOT to purchase what you really desire, you are believing in your current circumstances and your current limitations.

That’s what you’ll get more of because you are making a decision that sets that outcome in motion.

Maybe there will be incremental steps forward, but this is not the way to quantum leap your income.

You need to believe in your ability to create and receive what you want, money or otherwise. This is a rule of business. (And of life.)

You could call this ground zero. Where you need to start.

Yet, belief alone is not enough. (Please read that twice.)

You also have to take action. You have to do the work, and when opportunities present themselves that you are being called to, you have to say yes to them quickly and take the next action. This is BELIEF IN ACTION.

This can be scary if the opportunity that you’re being called toward requires money that you currently don’t have or would be a big risk to your bottom line.

But this is a choice…

Do you choose to believe in your capability, your capacity, your dreams, and desires? Do you choose to believe in your commitment? Do you choose to believe that you will show up, take action, and do the work?

As an entrepreneur, you get to decide. You are in a unique position to create exactly what you want… but it takes choosing what you believe in.

What are you believing about money and yourself?

This limiting belief stops your cash flow

I love going to SLEEP with the news that one of my clients enrolled a new client who’s life she’s going to transform and help…

And then WAKING up to the news that another client was able to meet the emergency needs of her client while more than TRIPLING her rate.

Woohoo! #proudcoach

Yes, I’m happy for them, but beyond that, I am highlighting this today because so many people have limiting beliefs about what SALES means…

Yet they want the freedom and peace of mind that increased cash flow brings.

You can’t have it both ways.

You can’t think sales is an icky, yucky, sleazy, slimy thing AND want to make them. That goes against the way the Universe works.

If you want increased cash flow, guess what?

You want to make sales. (Even if you want to run screaming from the room when I use the word “sales.”)

I know that word “sales” triggers a lot of people, but I’m on a mission to normalize it.

There are so many women who aren’t YET in their power around sales or charging appropriately for their product or service.

What does this do?

It limits your cash flow.

But it also limits your freedom.

Yes, I agree, freedom is a state of mind. You can access it anytime, anywhere, with or without money.

But the money is nice… right?

The money allows you the CHOICE…

To go on any kind of vacation you want.

To buy that new pair of shoes and not worry about it.

To send you kid to college. Heck, to send you kid to dance class.

Money gives you those options. Money gives you that kind of freedom.

It also gives you the means to ACT in the world more fully as you, in an unlimited way.

This is so important to your personal growth and actualization.

What if, when you think of doing something that takes money, you could say yes to yourself?

Instead of shrinking into the “can I afford it?” conversation when you want to purchase something, you expanded into it with a… yeeeessss!!?

So instead of thinking of sales as something to avoid…

What if you could transform your beliefs around it while keeping your integrity?

What if you could learn the small YET impactful tweaks to what you’re doing so you could double or triple your income?

This makes such a difference to your bottom line and to your sense of self.

I am happy to say this happens ALL THE TIME for my clients.

And it’s totally possible for you too! (No exceptions!)

Approaching negativity without energizing it

I’ve got to admit… sometimes it feels awesome to throw a fit. When all hell is breaking loose and people or events are conspiring against you… your inner two year old just wants to throw a big o’ tantrum. You’re mad. You’re frustrated. You just want to vent.

Things aren’t going my way! Whhhhhy????

You rehash what’s got you worked up. You go over the most annoying parts… looking for validation. Doesn’t this suck? Isn’t this messed up?

You blame and complain….

“They didn’t get that back to me on time.”
“It costs too much money.”
“She doesn’t get it. She dropped the ball.”

You justify your response.

“I have a right to be upset…”
“If they hadn’t have done xyz… I wouldn’t have done abc…”
“I got so frustrated because they just wouldn’t….”
“Wouldn’t you have done the same thing?”

Until you realize you feel worse. That what you’re doing just underscored and energized the problem.

You’ve done nothing truly productive.

So what’s the alternative?

Certainly, you don’t want to bottle it up inside. That’s repression.

You don’t want to just put a smiley sticker on it and say that everything’s fine… when it’s not.

The question then is…

How do we talk about things in our lives and business that bother us, and really get it out, without fueling all the negativity and energizing what you don’t want?

Here’s what I do:

1. Get it out, but in a contained way. To do this, I often say… “I’m putting this in a box to discuss it.”  And limit my vent to defined amount of time. When I’m done, I’m done.

This acknowledges that you are delineating your tantrum… eeer, I mean, venting. ;-)

When you’re done with that…

2. Take 100% responsibility for your results. Zero blame. 100% responsibility. No matter what. You are the creator of your life. Take ownership.

3. Look for the lesson in the situation. There’s always a lesson. See it and learn it, as quickly as possible. The faster you do this, the faster what’s got you hooked disappears from your life. You’ve got to learn the lesson, otherwise, it’s on repeat. Ever wonder why there are patterns in your life that repeat themselves?

4. Understand the Truth. Inevitably there is some misunderstanding and confusion in how you’re understanding the Laws of the Universe. Get clear on this so you can get good with these immutable Laws.

5. Look for the opportunity. There is always one. Usually, it’s a growth opportunity. Yup. Another f– growth opportunity. ;-) You are meant to grow. Don’t resist this.

6. Act on the solution. Actually, solve the problem. What’s the solution? Focus your conversation on the solution. Then, even if the solution is uncomfortable, do it. This situation is begging you to solve this problem. If you don’t, it just keeps coming back.

7. Refocus. Once you find a solution and are done discussing it… shift your energy and focus towards what you do want. Do this immediately. Don’t let that space get filled with what you don’t want. Focus entirely on what you want.

Got that? Good. :)

Now rock out those solutions and be unstoppable in your business.
