People come up with all kinds of excuses for staying broke and not having the wealth they desire

Most people don’t make the kind of money they want not because they’re bad people, or not smart enough, or don’t work hard enough… but because they listen to these excuses.

In fact, very good, highly intelligent people with great work ethics stay struggling with money.

If this is you, I feel your pain. That was definitely where I was–working so hard, trying to do the right thing but not getting ahead fast enough to feel the relief. Then I figured some things out and 5x’d my income in one year. (That was fun! :) 

One of the things I figured out was how to take a noexcuse attitude.

I started looking at what I was saying that was stopping me from doing the needle-moving work in my business that would actually make me have my desired wealth. 

And you need to do this too.

Ask yourself… what comes after, “I can’t do that now because…” or “If only _____ would happen, I’d be able to…” 

Is it time? Is it money? Is it that a particular person that needs your help and takes up all your bandwidth?

Is it your messy home, or your busy schedule? Do you tell yourself you have too many obligations to make progress towards your desire?

What is it that you’re telling yourself is stopping you from doing what you said you would do?

(Resist the urge to go into shame here. Instead, catch yourself out on this lovingly and honestly, sans guilt trips.)

I had a quick conversation with a client a little while ago, and she complained to me that the way her son and her husband were keeping the house was driving her crazy. She was so annoyed and couldn’t focus on her work because the house was such a mess all the time.

She was complaining but not doing anything about it.

This is common. It happens to the best of us, but it’s not the secret to success. Far from it, in fact.

I suggested hiring a mother’s helper, someone who’s willing to come in for an hour or two every day and straighten up. These people exist! They’re the kid next door, the stay-at-home mom that wants to earn a little extra money. It’s super easy.

And a little tangent here– I know some of you might be thinking, “I can’t afford someone to come in and help me.”

But I’d argue that if you’re saying “I need more help but can’t afford it,” in life – whether that’s in your business, your household duties, childcare or anywhere else – I’d argue that that’s an excuse.

You can absolutely figure this out.

And you can start off small, you don’t have to start big. But you can get help.

There’s always help available. If you look for it, you can always figure out a solution – whether it’s paid help, a trade, or some sort of family situation – there’s always help available.

So do not use that as an excuse. Do not let a circumstance outside of you stop you from going forward and achieving your goals, creating the business that you want, and the wealth you desire.

With my wonderful client, the next day after our talk, she had someone hired. It didn’t take that much effort at all.

But it does take claiming what you want and articulating what’s getting in your way.

She wanted a clean house, she wanted order. This is totally understandable. But she was stuck in the complaint and as a result, a bit of complacency.

Instead of complaining, just solve the problem!

Get off your high horse (I say that lovingly), and solve the problem, because it’s your life and you’re 100% responsible for it.

Complacency and complaining will only keep you broke and unhappy

I want you to have the wealth you desire.

Do you want to win the battle, but lose the war? Try blame.

Today I want to talk about making mistakes, and how that causes us to want to blame other people.

I wanted to touch on this topic because of something that happened with our company last week.

I’m just going to be straightforward with you… we made a mistake.

We sent out an email with the wrong time for our big training that would be live in just a few hours.

I saw that email and I was like, Oh sh*t! I immediately jumped onto Skype and communicated with my team, so that we could correct it and make sure no one was showing up on Zoom at the wrong hour.

But the thing that was crucial here, was the way that I approached this situation.

Even though I was feelin’ a little stressed about the time crunch… I was like, Hey, we need to fix this! This is the next step I want. Then, how do we solve this in case that doesn’t work for every single person attending?

No blaming, no guilt trips. Clear headed and solution-focused.

Simple enough, right? You’d think so, but SO many successful women that I talk to still get this wrongagain and again!!

I’m not totally innocent either, to be clear. ;-)

A few years ago, if something like this would have happened in my business, I would’ve thought with an attitude of frustration and blame: “The scheduler should’ve caught thisMy team wasn’t paying attentionSomeone was being sloppySo-and-so really dropped the ball.”

I would’ve gone straight into blame each and every time there was a mistake. And I really had to change my attitude around this, quite frankly. And that shift started years ago… but I’m still not perfect!

In fact, sometimes I still go there if someone is consistently dropping the ball.

When that happens, I know something is off and I have to look at Causes.

Is it a systems issue?

Is it a management issue?

Is it a right person/wrong role issue?

Is it a wrong person/right role issue?

Is it a communication issue?

Is it an integrity issue?

And so on…

The truth is that, as human beings, we all make mistakes. Nobody is perfect 100% of the time.

So even if you win that battle,” you’re not actually winning.

You’re supporting an untruth. And all that does is perpetuate it in your life.

Instead, The Law of Cause and Effect demands that you look at the causes of the results you are getting.

You are ultimately ‘First Cause’ in your life. With that in mind, do both the enquiry in your business (see questions above) and look at what you’re doing, indirectly or directly, to create the mistakes.

Although there may be hiccups along the way, if you step out of the blame game with yourself and your team, you’ll ultimately win. :)

Every time I take personal responsibility in this way, I immediately see the positive effects ripple out to my team and in all areas of my business and life.

I felt better. The ease and delight came back. All the changes that needed to be made, happened in that seemingly effortless way that I’m used to. Ahhhh… back on track!

This is what I mean by winning the war.

So, how can you hold yourself to a higher standard when it comes to this?

This is an attitude shift that closes the gap so that you’re no longer wasting energy on blaming yourself or blaming others. You’re just focused on going to the next level… which will get you there so much faster.

When you see others around you really going for it, growing their business, getting more visibility, and accomplishing big things, how does it make you feel?

Is there a part of you that’s really happy for them, but another part that’s jealous? You want that level of success, but you haven’t gotten there yet.

What happens next? Do you turn your criticism inwards, attacking yourself for all the ways you’re not measuring up, all the things you should’ve accomplished by now but haven’t?

Does it create some fear of being left behind? Then what?

Is it urgency or paralysis? Or something else?

Everyone has a pattern of reactivity that, if you’re not aware of, keeps you SMALL. It keeps you locked into fear-based reactivity, where you create the same results over and over again.

The way you’re feeling and reacting when others obtain what you want, says so much about you. (Remember, no harshing on yourself. We’re just bringing awareness to the pattern here.)

It says everything about the way you see yourself… this is your SELF-IMAGE, and if you’ve been following my teaching for awhile, you’ll know that your SELF-IMAGE affects every aspect of your life.

Your self-image either keeps you repeating the same patterns again and again and staying at the same level of success, revenue, love, peace, and freedom.

Or, if you’re able to change it and expand it, it allows you to create a massive quantum leap in SELF-CONFIDENCE, income and all the good that you desire in life.

You want that right? Think about what would open up for you if you knew how to change your self-image on command? You’d be able to get massively different results!!

Instead of being jealous, you’d be the one achieving the big things and inspiring others to go for more.

You’d be working towards your true desires and goals consistently, because you recognize just how valuable your time, energy, and efforts are.

You’d stay accountable and stop giving in to all the little things you don’t really want to do. You’d start changing what you’re worth. And you’d start living a fulfilling, successful, lit-up life.

So what’s required to do this?

Well, there’s some work to be done. I won’t kid you on that. (You can’t stay the same and get different results.)

This may sound like a woo concept, but EVERYTHING that is created starts as a thought.

What’s creating those thoughts? And why do you think certain thoughts versus other thoughts?

And if those thoughts are negative like — “I just can’t get ahead… I wouldn’t be able to maintain that… I can’t do it… That’s not for people like me…” what ends up happening???

When you hold self-abusive thoughts like this in your heart, it stops you from taking action and making real progress towards your big goals, whether they’re financial, personal, relational, or all of the above.

These thoughts inhibit your every move, in turn influencing every choice you make, every action you take, all of your results and outcomes.

It’s not luck. It’s not random. It’s not happening to you.

You are creating this, and you’re doing it whether you understand it or not.

But what I want you to do is understand it—and then learn how to control it.

It starts with changing your self-image—what you think about yourself.

If you’re not getting the results you truly want, then you know that your self-image… has not kept up with your desires for what you want to achieve in this life.

It hasn’t kept up with your massive potential. It hasn’t kept up with the things you could achieve if you were executing at your highest level, and if you were living that extraordinary life you don’t just deserve… you require.

To get there, you first have to work on your self-image.

This is the only way out of the self-imposed trap you’re in.

You have big, audacious goals.

You’ve claimed it, gotten giddy about it, and decided to finally take the plunge towards your true desire.

You‘ve even got your foolproof plan in hand. But when you start taking action towards ityou get to one of the steps, and all you want to do is run.

There’s resistance. It looks like complete avoidance, subtle procrastination, and distraction (i.e. getting busy with other very important things, inopportune crises and more.)

There’s almost a feeling like you’re trying to mix oil and water.

What’s up with that??

This happens because you’re in conflict with your identity and subconscious programming.

You resist doing the work because it’s so contrary to what you have done before… it’s so far from how you typically see yourself.

Let’s say you want to release some weight.

If you have a self-image of being a frumpy woman who is about 30 pounds overweight, you might be able to use persistence to shed those extra pounds.

But eventually, you’ll gain it all back.

If you want to be the successful, kickass owner of a 7-figure business, but your self-image is of a helpless girl who always calls others for advice on what to do… there’s going to be resistance there.

Same thing if you see yourself as the penny-pincher, regardless of how much you’re making – the person who second-guesses every price tag and denies herself from buying anything “just because that’s the right way to be.”

You may be able to perform at the level you desire for a little while – you might even be relatively successful – but you’ll never unlock your true potential if this is how you see yourself.

It is critically important that you align your self-image with your goals.

If you’re not doing the work to change your self-image, you will only see incremental improvements in your life and your business.
