What drives you?

For me it’s many things…

Growth, freedom, money, and impact among other both mundane and lofty desires.

But sometimes I’m driven by frustration.

Let me give you an example…

My assistant gave me 2 days’ notice on Friday. She has been an amazing part of my team so this was a bit out of character for her. (I still love her but c’mon!)

Needless to say, this initially caused a lot of WTF mental activity…

I’m not going to pretend I wasn’t a bit frustrated.

(Thank gawd for SOPs and my amazing Team, as the handoff all happened seamlessly. Totally grateful.)

I got on my Peloton rower to let off some steam and you know what? I had the best 20 minute row EVER. Yep. Faster and harder than ever before.

That frustration channeled into the row turned into something incredibly satisfying.

Hmmm… I transmuted that energy.

And it made me realize we do that all the time.

We take something negative and turn it into something positive.

We turn our frustration about being ignored into fame.
We turn our frustration about being poor into prosperity.
We turn our frustration about our weight into athleticism.

But not everyone does this, of course.

But more importantly, not everyone who has transmuted a frustrated energy into a satisfying success does it with ALL things.

There are aspects of one’s life where we don’t make that shift.

Hmmm… where do you successfully turn your frustrations into satisfactions? And where do you not?

I know that when I was making in the low 6-figures ($138k to be exact), I was really frustrated by working really hard and not making as much money as I wanted.

That frustration and that desire were both strong enough that I transmuted that into business success.

Once the business started making 7-figures year over year, my frustration became one of time and focus and I transmuted that into a more spacious life, working on the purposeful and key things that I love.

My frustration in the realm of relationships I transmuted into an exquisite relationship.

And so on…

But here’s the rub…

In each case, in order to transmute my frustration into a satisfying success, I needed to shift my focus/energy and pour it into something satisfying.

I needed to focus and put my energy on FINDING SATISFACTION, someplace, anyplace, rather than on the frustration.

Because satisfaction breeds success.

And it just doesn’t work any other way.

For instance, I noticed I was carrying some extra pounds. Call it menopause. Call it new relationship love weight. It doesn’t really matter.

I was frustrated. But you know what?

When I stayed focused on how frustrating this was, all that happened was an increase in weight. Frustration breeds frustration.

When I focused on how satisfying my new rower was, with all the short 10-minute strength classes that I can fit in whenever I want, I started to get success.

And it’s in that choice, when you choose to go find satisfaction, where the transmutation starts.

The other day, my man and I were hustling to get out the door to go have a leisurely breakfast at this super cute, quintessential French bakery that I had just discovered.

I really wanted to show it to him…

I really wanted to get out of the house for the housekeeper…

And really wanted to get there and back before my first meeting of the day…

But we didn’t have much time.

So I was pacing by the back door, waiting impatiently.

When he noticed this, he graciously spoke to it saying, “I didn’t realize we were in a time crunch.”

To which I snarkily replied, “Yes, you did!”

Ouch!

I immediately regretted it and apologized.

But why did that come out of my mouth in the first place?

That’s not who I am and yet that’s what I said.

And this brings us to the topic for today… Our relationship with time.

Although it may be true that time is a non-renewable resource that we never get back…

Have you ever noticed that sometimes you feel like things flow so smoothly, you get a ton of stuff done, and it seems like you have all the time in the world?

While other times you’re worried about time, everything takes longer than you expected, and more to-dos just pile up? (And you end up being stressed and snarky.)

Our experience of time changes based on how we are relating to it. And in turn, our experience of life changes based on how we’re relating to time.

Sometimes we feel spacious and divine… and other times not so much.

So the next day, I tried a different tack… one that ALWAYS works better for me.

I decided what I wanted to get done but reduced dramatically the time-sensitive constraints I put on myself.

In fact, I choose to commit to only one time specific activity, giving myself much more flexibility.

The result?

One of the best days ever, full of flow.

Now I’m not suggesting throwing out your calendar, blowing off meetings, or ignoring your task list.

But I am asking you to choose your highest priorities, commit to that, and then trust the flow of life more.

It’s not about discarding structure but rather about infusing it with trust and adaptability.

It’s about testing out what the least amount of time-based structure is that you need to get your work done in this world.

It’s about being fully committed to your highest and best life, and not living a compromised, time pressured version of it.

With some practice, you’ll find yourself creating days that resonate with the essence of living exquisitely. Stack those and you’ve got an exquisite life… one that’s truly worth living.

It’s time to lean into that, yes?

How I Get to Live with the Man of my Dreams

There’s a part of the manifestation process I haven’t talked about a lot.

It’s the course correction part. It’s the part where you go with the flow and you don’t get stuck forcing one way over the other.

Here’s how it works…

You want something, whether small or large. Desire has called you.

You get clear on it for yourself. You name it and claim it. (Infinite Intelligence already knows, this part is for you and your alignment.)

Then you get ideas. They come to you clearly as distinct knowing, signs, magical alignments, i.e. running into the particular people, events, opportunities.

You act on them. This is the place not to overthink. Decide and act quickly when you’re moved, when you know.

BUT then…

They don’t always work out according to what YOU had in mind.

That doesn’t mean they’re not working out. They are!

The Universe is an ordered place. Sometimes it may seem like chaos or things not working out but that’s only from your level of awareness. There is always order… and it’s always in your favor. But you have to be open to seeing it that way

Let me give you an example…

I met a man. Not just any man. But the man I’m going to spend the rest of my life with. (This is a longer story of finally getting over a core wound of being unlovable, one that haunted me through dating, a marriage, and subsequent relationships but that’s for another time…)

As my relationship evolved, it quickly became clear that we wanted to live together. Desire calls.

Small issue… I live in North Carolina and he lives in California, where he’s happily fathering teenagers, so it’s not as easy as just shacking up.

So I set an intention. I named it and claimed it…

Daughter happy, son happy, ex happy, and James and I supremely happy, living together by the end of the year.

This intention represents my true desire. I desired a way for James and I to be supremely happy living together by the end of the year that included his kids being happy as well. That was what really mattered to me.

The ‘how that happened’ didn’t matter to me. I was open to all the ways.

Flash forward to lots of signs (like multiple run-ins with my real estate agent) and quickly deciding to put my house up for sale and move to California.

This was a full steam ahead kind of decision. I acted quickly and we were staged, listed, and set to show it licketedy split.

Then it was off to CA to look at houses to buy or rent.

There were two almost right places, but neither were our ‘it’ place. Hmmm… this isn’t working out as planned?

But in the process of looking at one ‘almost it’ place in Montecito, which was a much further distance from his kids than we originally planned, James realized he was good with the idea of commuting weekly.

So he suggests, what if I move in with you and commute from North Carolina?

I say, YES! (Of course.)

Now let’s break this down…

This was clearly the order of the Universe. With the level of awareness that 20/20 hindsight provides, the order is so clear.

We needed to explore all the options, in order to get good with this one.
We needed to try to make other things work, in order to get the idea that would work.
We needed to act and not loop on why it wasn’t working, in order to be open to the best way forward.

Move in day is coming right up…November 27th, before the end of the year. :)

So voila… the clear intentional desire I set…

Daughter happy, son happy, ex happy, and James and I supremely happy, living together by the end of the year.

…was met after all with so much beauty, ease, and order.

Long story short, this is how manifestation often works. You lock onto an idea for creating what you want but that may not be the easiest, most graceful and ordered way for the Universe to provide you what you want. Be open to that. Go with the flow. Don’t force the way.

The Law of Polarity states that everything is created as a whole. There are no halves in the Universe, there are always two sides to everything, and those two sides create the whole.

We can't have up without down, we can't have left without right, we can't have good without bad, and we certainly cannot have happiness without sadness.

The Voice of the Ambitious Woman

When you’re going for more it’s often hard to listen to your Soul. It doesn’t seem expedient. There are so many other pressing things that need your attention. Why should I go inside? Why should I listen? I certainly don’t have time for this, the story goes.

Whether you think you have time or you don’t, if you take the time to listen, your Soul will always give you the correct direction. And this clear direction is priceless.

So how do you do that?

Stop. Get quiet. Listen.

Seems pretty easy, but what are you listening for?

For me it’s evolved.

It used to just be a voice or dialogue in my mind that was qualitatively different from the Default Mode Network, that constant chatter in your head.

I started to pay more and more attention to it and it started to come through loud and clear. There was no question about its authority. I always knew it was correct.

I used to call that the voice of God and I would have my own version of “Conversations With God.” (Thank you Neale Donald Walsch for the inspiration.)

Then I started to meditate.

Almost immediately I noticed a feeling in my body that again was qualitatively different from my normal resting state.

As I started to pay attention and listen to that feeling more and more, I started loving it. Literally sending it love. As I did so, the energy became stronger and stronger and my connection to Spirit has grown exponentially since.

The result?

Now that voice and that feeling speak as one.

Together the result is a channeling of Spirit.

This morning it gave me guidance on what to say to a client in need, it directed me on the content of this newsletter, it showed me the difference between illusion and reality and how to stop creating the illusion.

So what does this have to do with anything important to you?

Having access to this power and knowing how to build this connection, is your birthright as well.

It clarifies the path.
It provides the net.
It removes uncertainty.

And yet often for ambitious, driven women, we suppress our access to this, thinking that we have to do it all on our own.

Certainly we won’t abdicate our responsibility or the action that is ours to take BUT this connection to Spirit makes your work so much easier.

Your job now is to build your connection to it. Start with what I’ve written above and keep your eyes open for our upcoming (2024) Exquisite Life Plan Event where I will be teaching you the methodology for accessing this… and so much more!

Believe it or not, the way we dress and present ourselves to the world is now more important than ever.

This is why having a sense of style that works for you (after all, you don’t always have to follow the latest trends to be chic or fashionable) can completely change the way people view you.

Being able to rock the type of clothes that you enjoy wearing will give you an incredible boost of confidence, and this, in turn, will help you reach all your goals.

After all, don’t they say dress for the job you want?

I know my life completely changed when I started dressing differently and truly caring about my appearance. It was not out of arrogance or vanity (as many naysayers would tell you), it was out of self-love.

Someone who knows a lot more about the power of dressing up is this week’s guest on the podcast, the beautiful Rene Macdonald.

Rene is a self-confessed bold dresser, an amazing creative, and the founder of London-based luxury women’s wear brand Lisou.

The clothes that Rene creates are bold and colorful and they match her bold and bubbly personality perfectly.

In this episode, Rene will be discussing the importance of sustainability in fashion, why you should be investing in a few quality pieces of clothing, how dressing for yourself can help you feel more confident, and more.

Let’s dive in.
