One of the biggest places entrepreneurs get spun out is getting lost in the details of… what should I focus on?! Should I do videos or write posts? Should I do Facebook lives or pre-record them? Do I need to be on all the social media profiles or just a few?

I get it, there are a lot of places we can put our time and attention that may give us more impact, engagement, and reach… but it doesn’t really matter if you’re wasting your time worrying about where to start rather than just getting started.

Here’s how to simplify it…

  • First, write down the things that you ENJOY doing and that are EASY for you.
  • Second, look at your RESULTS for what you’re already doing (or have done in the past). Really dig in. What do the numbers tell you? What of those things is WORKING? What’s not?
  • Lastly, DO MORE of the things you enjoy, and find easy, that also have a proven track record.

Do you like doing Facebook lives and see engagement and response from them?

Awesome! Make a list of topics and schedule time to do them each week.

Do you enjoy creating instagram graphics with written content?

Great! What needs to happen for you to do them more frequently?

Do you prefer to talk and create audios on topics your audience needs?

Perfect! Start a podcast, but keep it simple so you don’t get hung up on the tech.

It really doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing,  or how many options you have at your literal fingertips.

It matters what’s EASY and ALIGNED for YOU, and… MOST IMPORTANTLY… what WORKS.

Just DECIDE what it is that you’re doing and COMMIT to doing it.

Then be sure to track your numbers so you know what works and what doesn’t.

Does Energetic Work Get Easier?

Have you ever said to yourself, “Please tell me that this inner energetic work gets easier so I can just get on with making bank from all my brilliant ideas”?

Yes?

I used to say that too. I was committed to my personal growth and doing what it took to show up as an unstoppable woman in business but quite honestly… I was tired of the emotional roller coaster that came with doing the deep transformational work.

The truth is it took me many years of working on my core limiting beliefs. Then one day I realized I was done with needing the deeper energetic, transformational work. Sure, things still come up occasionally, but they don’t linger and it’s not a rollercoaster of emotions because I know how to move through it. I don’t get thrown for a loop like I used to.

In fact, when shizz comes up, I embrace it. I move toward it.

It’s my growth edge and I always want to be growing.

So what changed for me?

As I said, I did lots of transformational work on myself.
That was really important and foundational.

But the real lynchpin was when I DECIDED I wasn’t going to indulge ANY thoughts that caused me to spin out and become unproductive or unfocused. I made the CHOICE to have zero tolerance for any of that.

(Scroll down below this post to grab my free Stop Your Spinout Guide. I show you the exact method I used to stop these unproductive thoughts.)

Was that easy to execute? No.
Did it work? Yes.

If you’re done with the emotional rollercoaster and getting emotionally sideswiped by triggers in your life and business and you just want to focus and show up every day as the unstoppable woman that you are… you can.

But first, you have a decision to make… are you or are you not going to indulge the thoughts that send you down the rabbit hole?

The answer to this question is what determines whether it gets easier or not.

Here’s a practice that creates a winning attitude… which leads to big results.

It’s very simple and easy, but most people ignore it because they think it’s too simple and not going to help them. Don’t be one of these people.

Here’s how it works and it’s really quite easy…

You recognize your successes.

So often we skip over our wins, what’s really working, both small and large, and take them for granted. We just move onto the next thing.

This keeps you on the “hamster wheel of never enough”–always going for the next thing without appreciating what you’ve actually achieved and accomplished.

This causes you to get lost in the “grind” of your work. The irony is that this is most likely exactly what you’re trying to avoid.

For most of us, the desire to tick everything off our list, is an attempt to feel good. You think pushing on and pushing hard is going to help you finally feel on top of the world. And sure enough, getting things done does feel pretty awesome.

However, if you rarely look back and appreciate what you have accomplished, you will never experience the flow and ease in your work, during your work, that you want.

Happily, that sense that you can never get ahead, that you’re not doing enough, that you’re behind, and that you must do more or else is actually a mindset that you can turn around quite easily.

You can start with looking back and celebrating your wins. What were your big wins? What were your small wins? Start to appreciate all of them.

I often get asked, “What do I need to focus on in my business?”

The answer is the same whether you’re focused entirely on growing your business or doing it in addition to holding down a job.

Here’s why…

You always need to be working on the next step that’s in front of you. This seems obvious but go with me here…

Where most people go astray is they start seeing the multitude of tasks that are required and they think EVERYTHING HAS TO BE DONE NOW.

This will instantly put you into spin out, cause you mental and emotional friction, and slow you down. Why?

Because it’s impossible and you know it.

You can’t possibly make good on the unconscious commitment you just made to yourself when you looked at all the stuff that needs to get done and said: “I’m going to do this now, this week, or even this month.”

The possibility of being out of integrity with yourself then causes panic… and it is this panic or overwhelm that stops you or slows you down.

I see this happening all the time, at all stages of business.

In fact, this just happened with a client in a VIP day. We had laid out a plan, what the basic building blocks were to get her to a $5 million dollar business, which by the way, did not require a lot of bells and whistles… the best plans never do…

And then I saw her face shift from excitement to something else along the lines of trepidation.

What was going on?

She started unconsciously thinking everything had to be done now, this week, immediately upon getting home.

A quick reframe helped… Focus on the next step. That’s all you have to do. You do the next thing that’s in front of you and that’s it. When you’re done with that, the next step. You know what to do now and you just do it. No noise.

This can happen very quickly if you get out of your own way.

One step after another. Don’t overthink things. This is key to making the quantum leap.

Here’s a simple way forward to get you started…

1) Pick when you’re going to be working on your business. These are your working hours. Don’t stray.

2) Then choose what you’re focusing on now, during these work hours.

If you’re honest, you probably already know what you need to do.

If you’re confused about priorities, don’t over think it. Pick something and get started.

Caveat: There are particular needle-moving actions that many entrepreneurs and women in business avoid. This is where a mentor and coach is an essential asset.

3) Which leads us to… going and doing that one focused thing during the working hours you defined. And then the next thing and then the next thing.

If you work like this, you’ll be surprised how quickly you can make progress in your business no matter how many hours you actually have to dedicate to it and how it reduces the self-imposed stress.

This is not rocket science, but I can’t tell you how hard this can be for people.

It’s hard for a lot of reasons (programming, mindset, boundary issues, not understanding how to work with time, etc) BUT it’s NOT because anything is wrong with you. You’re not broken, so don’t get down on yourself if this is hard for you.

That said, don’t let yourself off the hook either. Keep showing up. One foot in front of the other.

Readiness is a choice

By Amira Alvarez Don't wait until you're ready to go for what you want. The truth about readiness is that it's a decision. You *decide* to be ready. That makes it an inside job. And that makes it up to you. Readiness is not based on outside circumstances, like... Travel schedules, health issues,…

Don’t wait until you’re ready to go for what you want. The truth about readiness is that it’s a decision.

You *decide* to be ready. That makes it an inside job. And that makes it up to you.

Readiness is not based on outside circumstances, like…

Travel schedules, health issues, out of town guests, kid’s schedules, work commitments, parties you’re planning, money you have or don’t have, what’s going on with your partner, whether you’ve tried and “failed” previously, that you have too much to do, or even on whether the freakin’ laundry has been folded yet.

If you want something, go for it.

You make a decision and you start. Now. Not when everything is clean and tidy and wrapped up in a nice bow. IT NEVER IS.

You can’t let your current circumstances determine your actions if you truly want a different outcome.

If you do, you get more of the same.

If you want something different, you’ve got to do something different.

You have to make a bold decision in favor of what you want. Now. Today.

This can be scary. No doubt about that.

Because you need to make this decision…

Even if you don’t know how it’s going to pan out….

Even if your current circumstances say you’re too busy and could not possibly handle it…

Even if you don’t know if you’ve got what it takes to really show up for yourself.

You decide and go for it.

YOU CLAIM IT THROUGH YOUR DECISIONS.

I talk in-depth about this in my new training on How To Break Through Your Income Barrier.

You’ll learn:

  • The first step you need to take to break through your income barrier–most people miss this entirely.
  • The behavior that I’ve identified that all people who make quantum leaps in their income have in common.
  • How to maximize your work time, so you get more done in less time and rock your to-do list every day.

This is content-rich, paradigm shifting information.

Enjoy.
